Artwalk, the premier gallery night of Alpine, Texas, has for 18 years worked to provide support to all endeavors of the arts in Far West Texas.
Savor the Arts is a new fundraising program initiated by Alpine’s Artwalk 2011 to solely benefit the local public schools art programs. The goal of the effort is to raise $10,000 to give directly to the art programs of every public and private school from Terlingua to Fort Davis, Presidio to Marathon, and Valentine to Balmorhea.
It’s no secret that in these economic times the arts programs are in dire need of help. Artwalk is committed to helping maintain the high quality of area art programs, and is asking for help from all of the area communities. Savor the Arts is a specially-designed way for local folks to help Artwalk help the arts.
Savor the Arts is a raffle. The tickets are $100. For their money, the winner gets a five-course gourmet meal for 20 people, prepared by a chef, cooked at a location of their choice, including spirits. The chef will be assisted by Artwalk volunteers who will help prepare, serve and clean up afterward. The 20 diners will enjoy an elegant evening of beautiful food, service and enjoyment, knowing that it is all for the art programs and the kids, area-wide.
“You pick the menu, you pick the venue. We cook, we serve, and we clean up,” said Atwalk Director Keri Blackman. “A $50 dollar a plate meal for five bucks is the real deal. All of the proceeds go directly to our community art programs. Artwalk and Savor the Arts needs your help.”
The communities of Terlingua, Presidio, Marfa, Valentine, Fort Davis, Balmorhea, Alpine and Marathon will be the beneficiaries of the fundraising.
