Historic Holland Hotel

Award winning photographer Alexa Walker returns to the Holland Hotel with new images from her latest adventures and a collection of favorites that always inspire.  Most of her subjects are drawn from the natural world, and she is known for her abstract landscapes – looking within the big picture to find the drama and design from the small details within the whole.  Her gift is her “eye,” finding compelling compositions in the wonders of Nature, or taking advantage of the serendipitous moments that are found in unexpected surprises and magic light.

Alexa is a child of the West, though she was born and mostly raised in a big city in Texas.  She no longer thrives in a big city, if she ever did, and is drawn to the magnificent landscapes of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, and a little bit of West Texas thrown in now and again.  She has an unquenchable love for the Southwest and Nature – and Photography.  She’s been taking pictures since about age 17, but for too many years misspent her talent with “real jobs.”  After trying her hand at many art mediums, she finally had that light bulb moment and now serves her passions of photography and writing, and that “hard day at the office” has blissfully turned into a raft trip down the Colorado, or other wonderful pursuits for that next great shot.  She won Best in Photography at the 2009 Ruidoso Art Festival, and again in 2010.
