Fourteen local artists fill this beautiful space with their inspiration. Showcasing each individual’s strengths, this cooperative gallery is a place of artistic support and encouragement.
If you have been following us over the years, you have seen our artists’ work grow and evolve. Some of our members have many years’ experience in the art field, even coming from other regions. Some of our artists are emerging, starting their career here in the Big Bend region. All find this area to be the perfect place to create their work and to experiment with new media, new ideas and concepts.
Truly, all of our artists are exceptional. Along with ArtWalk recognitions, our artists have been part of the Museum of the Big Bend Trappings of Texas shows, Alpine Gem and Mineral shows, Big Bend Arts Council shows as well as many elite and recognized association shows in Texas, US and beyond. They are also encouraged to share their talents through teaching workshops and showing beyond Alpine.
CatchLight Art Gallery will show jewelry by Virginia Brotherton, Shelley Atwood, June Adler and Marjie Erkkila. Exceptional photographic prints by Jim Bones, paintings by Tim Roberts, June Adler, Deborah Allison, Jan Moeller, Carol Fairlie, Diane Bailey and Reeda Peel will be on display. We will have pottery by Judy Freeman, sculpture by Willis LeJeune and Marjie Erkkila, scratchboard etchings by Tim Roberts and mixed-media by Martha Scott and Diane Bailey. Each artist has their individual space and there is a group exhibition area in the back of the gallery. We also feature note cards and postcards from many of our artists.
Deborah Allison, and Carol Fairlie have both been Honored Artists at previous Artwalk events. We show only local art: all of our artists live in the Big Bend area.
Special for ArtWalk, we will be featuring demonstrations of live model drawing on November 19, Saturday from 2 to 4pm. Our artists will be at the gallery throughout the weekend to greet our visitors. On Sunday morning, we will feature, in partnership with Gallery On The Square, a “Morning After” party beginning at 10am, serving coffee, tea and mimosas with a variety of brunch finger foods.
