Make the Silent Auction your first stop of the ARTWALK 2011 experience!

The ARTWALK 2012 Silent Auction offers a snapshot of the entire ARTWALK event in one place. Artists from official ARTWALK locations all over town donate artwork, so a walk through the Auction can tip visitors to the exhibits they don’t want to miss. Additional donations by collectors and artists from all over the region fill the Silent Auction with a rich variety of treasures and surprises that help make it a fascinating exhibit in its own right.

The organizers of ARTWALK not only provide one of Alpine’s most entertaining weekends each year and an economic boost to the city and its artists, they also give the Alpine Public Library the opportunity to raise sorely needed funds while contributing an important piece of the ARTWALK event.

Most public libraries in the United States are operated by local governments, who provide 94% of the funding required for their operation. The Alpine Public Library, in contrast, is an independent nonprofit organization. Both Brewster County and the City of Alpine provide invaluable support, but in 2011 their combined contributions provided only 51% of the funds needed to keep the library doors open. And with the move to the new library building, keeping those doors open will be even more expensive than ever. Every bid helps, and helps a LOT!

The beautifully renovated Granada Theatre offers the perfect setting for the Auction, and a comfortable place to sit, take a break and enjoy a drink while deciding what exhibit to take in next, or keeping an eye on the bidding for your favorite piece.

Bidding begins Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. The auction closes for the night on Friday at 10 p.m., and bidding stops for good at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. At 9:00 p.m. Saturday, the results will be announced and winners can pick up their items.

For those who don’t enjoy the suspense, the “Buy It Now” section features a dizzying array of smaller pieces just dying to go home with you right away.
